Thomas Carlyle 1795-1881: A fascinating letter and note to Dr. Alexander Paterson of Bridge-of-Allen from a J. Martin. Dated 1893 in part it states 'You expressed a desire to get a little of the hair of the late Thomas Carlyle, since coming home I've been successful in procuring a piece'. The Lot includes the aforementioned hair and a second note that says 'Hair of Thomas Carlyle Sartor Resautus cut 1868'. 13ins. x 18ins mounted on card.
