Dress, embroidered flower to front of bodice, lace trim to skirt and long sleeves, lace collar and cuffs. Plus a pink silk and lace ladies flapper style bonnet. These garments have been kept in acid free tissue since 1999 and are displayed with some.

Charles Robert Burton 1942 - 2002. An English explorer, best known for his part in the Transglobe Expedition 1979 - 1982, alongside Sir Ranulph Fiennes. The expedition was the first to circumnavigate the globe from pole to pole. As well as excelling in sports he served in the British army latterly as a member of 21 SAS regiment. The following archive is sold via direct descent.

Charles Robert Burton Archive: A fascinating collection of original ephemera and photographs relating to the Transglobe Expedition. They include photographs of Sir Ranulph and Charles Burton at the pole, HRH Prince Charles who was patron of the expedition, autograph menu from the Savoy relating to the Transglobe Expedition. Printed material includes scientific reports for the expedition, newsletters, personal newspaper cuttings detailing the expedition's progress. Original notes, some by Sir Ranulph, relating to an evening of tributes at the Royal Geographical Society following his death. An incredible archive relating to the first polar circumnavigation of the globe.
