NB: The Oceanic Steam Navigation Company or White Star Line of Boston Packets, more commonly known as just White Star Line, was a prominent British shipping company. Founded in 1845, the line operated a fleet of clipper ships that sailed between Britain and Australia. This is one of the earliest publications after the White Star was founded for the clipper ship Ben Nevis sailing from Liverpool to Melbourne, Australia. Other clipper ships of the White Star Line mentioned include Red Jacket and Mermaid.

WHITE STAR LINE/BOOKS: Extremely rare T.H. Ismay, silver plate presentation hardbound volume presented to the managers, hardcover with Zaehnsdorf cover includes 19 woodbury type photographs laid down on card showing a ceremonial gilt-silver service plus 34 gilt pages of text. This copy was presented to Thomas Jackson, Chairman, a.e.g. The images measure 7¾ins. x 9½ins. and smaller. A presentation volume from the manager of the White Star Line to the Reverend W. H. Metcalfe whose name is inscribed on the presentation White Star bookplate on the front paste down. The shareholders of the White Star Line presented Thomas Henry Ismay (1837-1899) with the sumptuous plate service pictured in this volume in gratitude for his wise financial hand at the helm of the company during the previous 15 years. Armed Cruiser) at the naval review, Spithead June 26th 1897 in commemoration of the sixtieth year of the reign of her Majesty Queen Victoria. In very good condition signed and notated by T.H. Ismay, Managing Director of The White Star Line, for Lady Curzon of Kedleston 21st November 1898 Thomas Ismay died one year later on 23rd November 1899. Approx. 50 engravings of both the exterior and interior of Teutonic, Queen Victoria, the Naval review, Thomas Ismay, W.J. Pirrie, G.W.
